Polish lawmaker Małgorzata Gosiewska has sent an open letter to the chief prosecutor and the justice minister of Georgia regarding the detention of the secretary general of the United National Movement Vano Merabishvili.
In it the Polish MP slams Georgian government for using strict preventive measures against Merabishvili (complete isolation and prevention of communication with family) considering the factor that Merabishvili has never hidden from the investigation and went for interrogations every time he was summoned. Małgorzata Gosiewska has assessed these measures against Merabishvili as a form of repression and physiological torture, which gives ground to qualify the detention as politically motivated. Polish MP hopes that Merabishvili`s case will be revised and the preventive measures will be changed.
